How popular card games have stood the test of time

How could popular card games withstand the test of time?

It's pretty amazing if you think about it, card games developing into mainstream roles that is. Card games are a part of life for some, specially those in the casino industry, where card games are utilized for gambling.

It is important to mention that card games have evolved a bit from what everyone knew years ago, as card games have become more popular then ever.

Fear not though, because it appears that games like Poker, Rummy, Solitaire, and other old favorites are here to stay. How have these games survived this long, withstanding the test of time? Very simple, since I'm sure at least some of you reading this remember when their parents taught them how to play cards, then you grew up and taught them to your kids.

Card games have become somewhat of a heirloom to be passed from generation to the next, because lets face it everyone needs something to do when their bored. I'm willing to take a bet that at least fifty percent of American homes have a standard deck of cards.

Although some may not be happy with this, gambling is also part of the reason card games are still popular. You see, with every casino built more people become obsessed with games like Poker, thus making them more popular. Though some people lose all their money at these casino's, they probably have fun while doing so.

Television also plays a role in how popular card games are these days, channels like ESPN sometimes broadcast live card game tournaments. Though typically Poker based tournaments there are tons of non-broadcaster tournaments all over the world, some may be as close as your local bar.

If you look at some television shows carefully, once in a while they will have characters playing card games. The movie industry has also cashed in on card games, movies like Oceans Eleven are partially based on casino life somewhat, if you count out the theft of money in the movie.

For generations these games will probably continue to withstand the test of time, whether it be poker, or more child orientated collectible card games like Pokmemon. Theres almost no limit to the number of games you can play with a deck of cards, so be sure to pass a set or two to the next generation, so that they too can enjoy a good game with friends.
