Grains of Clay
Lonely knows how I feel each moment in the day
Sharing isolation while others bound in play
If only lonely heartache could hope to find a way
And cease its dance in limbo on beaches of washed clay
The phantom embracing endeavour - somehow my dilemma
An easy island where to land my ever floating anchor
Sand holding temporarily my heartfelt shuddering rancour
On the edge of vulnerability, it seems alone forever
Will lonely find a home, a haven on rolling seas
Where one imagines essence of permeating peace
Where bumblebees pollinate and lonely is released
To feast life's pantry where behold at last - at last - at peace
When lonely swims gasping, threading yon gilded shores
Desperately seeking nurture from life's wholesome store
Floundering on each ocean edge, promising always more
I wonder it washes over and over, lonelier than before
Before today I lived a life I thought to be my home
Moments framed in history now sinking like a stone
I failed to pollinate the quintessentially me
The love and more I hold inside that would have set me free
I'm sorry in my love and life for causing you such pain
And pray we find when uninclined I lost you in the rain
With all my heart I pray you meet the promise of my love
Wherever it may rest in time, where lost hearts meet above
I wasted us beyond belief to a shocking distant foul
I killed myself unmindingly of all behind us now
But light cascades and shares in waves beyond where we despair
And night has passed your morning path, and peace awaits you there
For me it seems the path is dimmer and still a shadowy place
But somewhat lightened and happier now in memory of your grace
I'll strive to find a place that's mine, to hold one day my heart
And whilst I lost you when a child, I'm enlightened tho' we're apart
I loved you unconditionally yet seek love alone and new
Respecting your dreams, your deciding play, your sad unforgiving hue
So I rest my love reluctantly, be that as it may
Embellishing the promise of forever lost, now held in your arms at bay
Our tears float smiling treasures adrift in warm and tender mists
where a love confused was lost too far, within this childlike triste
Grains of time drowning mute the sun side of our smile
Wonderful beautiful treasures lost, yet remembered in the while
So, sleep in peace and awake in light, enter your haven on the shore
Hold your new foundation graciously, with love and trust and more,
let calmer waters caress your pain, and heal your heart and face,
Let the light in your heaven, the love in your heart, win your sad embrace.
