Death Dances
Silver cords and silken strands
Just like a puppet in death's hands.
Dried out chrysalis, a body deposed
Is freedom for the cocooned soul.
Death dances for the rich man;
The same waltz as for the poor man.
Just like a puppet in life's hands.
When the curtains rise and the stage is set
Take your bow little marionette.
This is your beginning and this is your end.
Away with life and down with sin.
Dance the Hora for your soul, the swing dance,
The square dance and the prance.
A lively Flamenco and a pow-wow too.
Dance with me death; do the soft shoe.
For when you are weary of living in pain.
There is nothing to lose and all to gain.
So dance with me death on the ballroom floor.
One final bow, then show me the door.

My darling husband,
It has been a great number of years
since I watched as they dragged
your cold, limp body from the icy waters.
How
by Joanna Smith
Always with me in my heart
Death had come for you many times,
many times before.
But God would not allow it,
For he had so much
