Making your business more eco-friendly

As a society Americans have grown keenly aware of the necessity to protect the environment. Recycling is the name of the game and communities everywhere seem to be catching up to speed by issuing curb side recycling bins to its residents, from there it's up to each resident to do his or her part in saving the earth. Some individuals get involved by recycling household goods and/or wastes in part or in whole such as; furniture and clothing or plastics, paper and aluminum.

Perhaps, as an individual you're not all that concerned about global warming or the ozone layer and you've always referred to those who are as "tree hugger". Be that as it may; as a business owner you too have a responsibility to do your part in saving our world! Becoming an "Eco friendly" company from web hosting, believe it or not, to recycling paper can also add to your businesses bottom line. Check out the following tools in addition to some examples of earth conscientious companies. Take a glance on-line at Go Green Hosting (www.gogreenhosting.com). This company hosts websites using 100% wind power therefore preventing hundreds of pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. Consider using energy efficient light bulbs throughout your offices. Commit to using stationary, business cards, brochures and even pay roll checks made only from recycled paper. Instead of new, purchase recycled and refurbished office supplies from printers, ink and toner cartridges to furniture from companies such as www.recycledofficesupplies.com . Consider buying office desks, book shelves or filing cabinets from a local antique store. I'd consider them to be "Eco friendly" businesses they are after all recycling a substantial amount of goods not to mention American history!

Encourage employees who contribute to your businesses "Eco friendly" efforts by suggesting they car pool, recycle, print less and end their computers work day in "saver mode", i.e.; shut it down or log off for the night. Reward contributing employees by treating them to lunch once a month or letting them leave an hour early on Fridays there's nothing like being appreciated! And finally, if feeling good about your businesses "Eco friendly" efforts isn't enough, consider this a potential marketing tool! Everywhere we look big and small companies alike are touting phrases in their marketing campaigns such as; "Eco conscientious", "built green" and "earth friendly products", a clear sign that smart businesses are getting involved in saving the earth and consumers are interested in doing business with them!
