The name of this game is called Egyptian Rat Screw. I've no clue why, but it is a great, easy game that is a mix between luck and skill. First let's start out with the basics. The objective of the game is to eventually have all the cards. You split the cards evenly, based on however many people are playing, and hold them face down in your hand. Each player draws a card and sets it face up in the middle of the table, one at a time. The pile keeps growing until one of the following events occur:
Any face card appears (Ace, King, Queen, Jack)
If this occurs, the next player in line must attempt to place any face card to match. An Ace gives you 4 chances to lay down a matching card, a King gives you 3, a Queen is 2, and a Jack is 1. If that player matches, then the 3rd player must try to match, and so on. Whoever succeeds in an unmatchable hand wins the cards. If any of these events occur at any point in time:
Two of the same number are placed in a row
Two of the same number are placed with one card between (sandwich)
Any order of any three cards in a row (Ace-2-3, 7-6-5, King-Queen-Jack)
Whoever slaps the cards first gets all the cards on the table, no matter what was happening. If someone slaps on nothing, then two penalty cards are put down under the pile from that person, and cannot be slapped on.
If a person has lost all of their cards, they may slap back into the game at any time. Three false slaps without any cards will permanently remove the player from the game, though. If two people tie, it is usually up to the other players not slapped in to decide who won. If someone attempted to slap a legitimate hand, but was beaten by someone else placing a car, no penalty occurs, nor does the person collect the cards.
Another fun way to play the game is by the "scavenge" rule. People who aren't paying attention to the game will hate this rule, and others will find it very useful. If someone has won a hand, but has not collected the cards for any reason, you may count out loud to a legitimate three seconds. If the person has still not retrieved their hand, you may slap the pile, whoever slaps the cards wins the hand. And finally, the faster you play the more fun it is.
