The Bricklayer
You blew a hole in the wall,
Around my heart today,
But a little man still stands there,
With more new bricks to lay.
Each time you turn away from me,
No matter what the cause,
Those holes are repaired,
And new layers built without pause.
Each new layer,
Is stronger than the last,
The clay and brick can crumble,
But with iron are held fast.
And that little man called doubt,
Stands there with a grin,
Because until you destroy him,
You can never trully get in.
Erasing him is key,
But you really have to try,
And until you care enough,
Alone inside I cry.
And until someone tries hard enough,
And cares for me deep down,
I'll cry my silent tears,
Knowing that I may drown.
