Why it is wise not to bury your head in the sand over debt

Why it is not wise to bury your head in the sand over debt? The main reason is, once you pull your head out of the sand, you'll discover the debt is still there, has probably gotten bigger and you are just a bit deeper in the soup.

Burying you head does not make the issue go away. It will still be there until it is dealt with in a responsible manner. You made the debt. The best thing to do is talk with the creditors, try to work out something that helps you take care of and insures the creditor gets paid.

If your house is on fire, do you go about your business and hope the fire goes away? No, you do something about it. You call 911 or grab the hose, you do something. You can't hide from it. It will show up in your credit reports. Try to buy a car or house and not have paid your debit. You'll quickly be reminded that the debit is out there and someone wants their money.

Not taking care of the debit will become a problem for most anything you do that requires your credit report to be pulled. What if you are trying to secure a loan for your son or daughter to enroll in college? They need the money to finish expenses and you can't get approved. Your hiding from debit has cost them the opportunity to go to school. Now some will say there is money out for college. How many parents went looking for this money and didn't find it? How many took out loans for your children? How many had a credit report pulled? And what are they looking for? They are checking to see if you have debit and if you are paying it....on time. Bad debit equals no money.

The bottom line is, you can hide form it. You have to face it, deal with it, and it will work out. Maybe not as fast as you like, but it will. It took time to accumulate it, it will take time to dispose of it. And one last thing, some employers frown on unpaid debit. It could cost you your job. And that is another issue by itself.

If you loose your job, the debit then begins to mount. House, car(s), utilities, insurance, and so on, still has to be paid. The bills continue even if you can't pay them. Creditor don't care that you don't have a job, they just want to know how soon you're going to pay them. So don't hide, man up or woman up, look the debit in the eye and meet it head on. You'll win.
