With the explosion of portable media players available on the market, such as Apple's iPod, it's no surprise that the term "podcast" is becoming more and more familiar in the entertainment industry. But what is a podcast? A podcast is a series of files, typically audio or video, that is updated frequently through RSS syndication feeds. The term podcast is a combination of the works "iPod" and "broadcast", meaning that podcasts are broadcasts or shows made specifically for the iPod and other digital media players or computers.

Podcasts are available in almost any topic you can think of, and the easiest way to download them is through the iTunes Store on the iTunes music program free of charge. Podcasts are a great way to get free video onto your iPod. When looking for podcasts it's important to note whether the content of the podcast is good quality and whether it is updated on a regular basis.

Ask A Ninja

Ask A Ninja is a hilariously podcast in which viewers email the ninja all sorts of questions, and he answers them each week in his podcast. It's very funny and I highly recommend it.

Happy Tree Friends

Happy Tree Friends is a podcast series of animated shorts from the cartoon of the same name. These feature lost of gore and violence, so you should be area of that before you check them out. It's pretty funny if you have a dark sense of humor.

The Meth Minute 39

The Meth Minute 39 is another podcast series of animated shorts created by Dan Meth and Channel Frederator studios. These shorts typically feature celebrities in animated form, and is also pretty funny to watch if you follow the mainstream media at all.

Comedy Central: Stand-Up

The Comedy Central stand up podcast features very short two minutes long stand up performances from the Comedy Central network, and is updated frequently. This podcast is a good way to see a variety of comedians and stand up comedic styles.
