and several basketball, football players, and even a boxer, the report said. Even the great Evander Holyfield was allegedly caught under the influence of steroids, not long after his own brief appearence in the WWE, where he-somewhat ironically-had a boxing match against the older brother of the now suspended Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy.
The use of steroids not only has had all these immediate impacts on the user's psyche, but long-term health risks can develop, as well. Using steroids will utlimately result in a shorter life. People have contributed this fact to the reason why so many professional wrestlers die middle-aged, but others have argued that though it may have been a small factor, but you can't rule out the physical strain they put their body through every day as enough to slowly weaken it. But I digress.
Steroids have been linked to causing cancer, self harm (but that relates to the damage in one's psyche), and even birth defects. An athlete who uses steroids may have made a quick boost for himself at the moment, but in the long run he or she would find the health risks may have been too great. Cancer is, after all, a very bad thing.
When you bring out all the negative results of steroid use, suggesting to allow them in athetlics is just plain ludicrous. Their negative effects are far too common and severe. Steroids should be left only for the use of rehabilitation, not simply enhancing one's game. One day there might be a drug invented that will increase your physique without so many health risks, but for now, we'll just have to rely on the gym.
