I see so many people on a regular basis struggling with depression, insomnia, PPD, and just off and on blues. I have had depression since early childhood, and suffered some really bad side effects from that. Later in life I also developed insomnia at age 14, and even struggle with it now time to time. I was lucky enough to never develop PPD though.
Depression had control of my life, complete control! I have tried counseling, therapy, medicines, and even hospitalizations. Ive suffered anger issues, low and even no self esteem, un-controllable crying, outburst of rage, months of seclusion, weeks on end with no sleep, weight issues, lost jobs, couldn't handle any type of relationship, cutting myself, several suicide attempts with two that were near fatal, the list goes on.
So one day I took a long walk and looked around me. I realized I'm wasting my life! My problem was with-in myself. I felt worthless, un-necessary, unwanted. But who would want someone around them in my state? That's when I woke up! I did hours daily of research. I researched medicines, their side effects, the human brain/body, natural medicines from several countries, and even went to group therapies to just listen and better understand. I'm not "cured", and probably never will be...and that's fine with me. This is who I am...Im not ashamed of it anymore. But now I'm aware of it and know what I need to do to stay balanced enough to not take those roller coaster dives anymore. Now I'm not saying stop therapy or meds...just know that there are other options out there. And after many failed attempts I found a few things that worked for me.

Green teas great for weight loss and that extra energy, while chamomile tea helps to calm and relax you(great for insomniacs).
Excersise and Fresh air: One of the MOST important things next to food. Ever notice how peoples moods change with the seasons? This is because in summer everyones out and about then in winter they burry themselves away. It is so vital that a person suffering with depression get an adequate amount of outside time. Not only will you feel better once you're out there and get going but those with PPD take your babies and
