Principles of online business ethics

What is the best eBay selling technique you can implement? Giving excellent customer service. In this digital world of buying and selling, customer service on eBay may make or break a sale for you. Since your feedback is an important part of your online storefront, providing prompt and courteous customer support is as consequential as the items you are trying to sell.

If you owned a brick and mortar business, how would you treat your customer while they were standing at your counter? You would be helpful and respectful of course! You would do everything that you could to guarantee that customers return to your store in the future. You would go all-out to make sure that their buying experience with you was both satisfactory and pleasant. Why would you do any less at the close of one of your eBay auctions? Providing excellent customer service on eBay is the same as in any other retail establishment.

First, act rapidly at the close of your auctions. Notify the winner, and congratulate them. Give a product description on the item they have won and how the item will be shipped, even if this information is already part of the description for the auction. Remind them of their winning bid amount, and give them payment options and instructions. Let them know when the item will be shipped.

Finish off your email by thanking them for participating in your auction. You may take this chance to tell them about some other open auctions that you have as well. Think of this email with the winner as a discussion that you are undergoing with a customer who is standing at your counter in that imaginary brick and mortar store. This is the Number 1, best eBay selling technique you can employ.

When the payment and shipping details have been taken care of, contact your buyer for another conversation. Give them the date when the item was shipped-the exact date and time-and when it is expected to arrive at their address. During this communication, let them know that if they have any problems or questions with the transaction, they should contact you through your eBay site, and make sure that you answer any questions immediately. If they do communicate with you in the future, make sure that you do all that you can to make them happy with their transaction, even if it means giving them a refund.

Yes. You need to be open to issuing refunds, depending on the situation. Furthermore, you should issue refunds promptly. Of course, it is reasonable to expect the buyer to send back the item to you, at your expense, before the refund is issued. Once you receive the item, issue the refund at once. This is just good business! The best eBay selling technique is the same on line as in any storefront- be available, listen to your customers and work out problems quickly when they arise. Customer service on eBay is the recipe for your business success, and will make certain that all feedback you encounter will be positive.
