Asian countries are blessed by many different ingredients which enrich Asian cuisines. They are tasteful, easy to cook and can be combined with other ingredients or items. Taste is very important for Asian people, conversely many dishes are not healthy. For example in South East Asia, to cook curry people use coconut milk and to make the taste yummy, they use not only 1 coconut even 2 or 3 coconuts and get curdle coconut milk. More coconuts mean better taste but high cholesterol.
Asian people love to cook and eat. While seating together for breakfast or dinner, a warm conversation is began. A housewife or mother needs to know how to cook, even though in some regions men are good in cooking but Asian women have to have knowledge about cooking. A woman needs to be creative in cooking and able to list various dishes everyday.
The best part is, from a package basic ingredient that can be modified into several kinds of dishes, the differences only on the way used for cooking. For example, a package of basic ingredient can be used for making fried chicken, on the other hand the same package can be used to make chicken curry by adding coconut milk. Then, chicken curry can be grilled to have chicken grill that tasteful.
Let me show you various dishes from a package of basic ingredients:
Basic Ingredients
1 chicken, cut it into 12 pieces
Ginger root 2 inches, peeled and ground
Lemongrass 4 inches, cleaned and ground
4 lemon leaves
4 salam leaves or can be substituted by bay leaves
3 shallots
5 garlic cloves
Salt
1.Fried Chicken
Procedures:
a.Ginger root, lemongrass, shallots and garlic cloves are cleaned and ground
b.Boil water and add chicken with all ingredients for 10 minutes, then turn of the heat and place the chicken to a plate
c.Heat the olive oil and fry the chicken until it looks brown
d.Ready to serve with Chili sauce
2.Chicken Curry
Additional Ingredients
1 thumb-size piece, turmeric
Coconut milk from 1 coconut
1 thumb-size piece, galangal
1 cup of water
Procedures:
a.Ginger root, turmeric, galangal, shallots and garlic are cleaned and grinding
b.Mix all ingredients with chicken and cook with low flame heat
c.When all are mixed, add water and coconut milk. Cover with medium heat
d.Stir fry gently until it boils
e.Keep on low flame heat until the water absorbed
f.Ready to serve
3.Chicken Grilled
Procedures:
a.Takes few pieces of chicken curry and place them on the grill
b.Grill with a small heat and smear with curry.
c.Turning frequently and wait until it becomes brown. Don't forget to smear with curry
d.Ready to serve
There are various recipes from Asian and can be used with the same ingredients. If today you eat fried chicken and tomorrow chicken curry, the day after with chicken grilled. All are coming from the same ingredients but different styles of cooks.
