The Butterfly That Appears
As I sit and dream
Underneath this big oak tree,
I'm in my own world
Thinking of you and me.
I close my eyes and drift
Calming down my fears,
Then when I open them
A beautiful butterfly appears.
She was a Monarch butterfly
With wings of orange and black,
Designs with laden hearts
I was taken aback.
She showed no fear as she landed
On the top of my bent up knee,
I whispered "Hello butterfly,
Why is it, you came to me?"
Out of the blue I listened
As a beautiful voice I heard,
"I sensed that you were worried"
As she lent an encouraging word.
I held up an extended finger
For her to perch upon,
She crawled up with ease
As I looked past the vast beyond.
"What do you have to offer me
Butterfly with a beautiful voice?
I'm ready to listen to you
With words I can rejoice."
"Let me first begin by saying,
My name is Angel, you see,
I came because I sensed
A lonliness in your plea.
For I am a lonely insect
That a spell has been cast upon,
For I once was a pretty maiden
Now my beauty is all gone."
"Oh, but I beg to differ" I said
"As your majestic wings do show,
The perfect heart laden designs
As the sun sets them aglow."
"But you see," she continued
"The heart design is pure,
If I can find the right person
With these colors I can lure."
"Whatever do you mean?" I asked
"Please tell me, I'm confused."
She continued by saying
The more I became amused.
"I have to find someone of purity
That has love in their heart,
Someone that could love only me
A love that will never part."
"I am in need of love myself
For my heart is broke in two,
What would it take for me
To fall in love with you?"
"A kiss between my wings you see
A kiss that will be true,
For if it is meant to be
I will appear upon for you.
I will be the pretty maiden
Only your eyes will see,
The two of us will be together
The way love was meant to be."
"But I must give you fair warning
If the kiss in not true,
My beauty will turn horrid
And evil befalls upon you.
So, if it is in your heart you hear
And it's forever to be,
The kiss will not be false at all
For just that one small fee."
I felt something in my heart
As I leaned in to kiss her wings,
As my lips touched upon her beauty
I saw the most wonderous things.
Her wings expanded with grace
As her body grew long and slender,
What appeared unto me
Was of joy and splendor.
Her beauty was as her name applied
An angel so did appear,
The pretty maiden she said she was
That took away my fear.
"Your love is true," she said
"As you can actually see,
My love is forever yours
And we will always be."
A butterfly appeared that day
It wasn't in my dream,
She was a beautiful apparition
With a beautiful color scheme.
The spell upon her is broken
There is no more orange and black,
We walk off hand in hand
There is no looking back.

Little hands reaching out to me
Pulling my heart to ease,
Brown eyes of bewilderment
Absorbi ng everything

Hear my cry Hear my plea grant this wish I ask of Thee
