Caring for plastic model trains

If you are a collector of model trains, cleaning and caring your collection probably will be a routine for you. It is not only for the trains but you probably also need to clean the tracks which will take lots of attention from you.

Cleaning and caring the tracks and trains are not really easy as you thought. Some people use 1-tips which they can buy from hobby store when they want to clean the tracks, there is also the one using little rubber eraser to clean the tracks, which is probably the most easiest way to find or to buy when it come to cleaning the tracks.

But if the tracks made from aluminum, some people also use sandpaper to clean it. Other thing which is also important to do is oiling the trains moving part, because it will give eefect for the life time of the engine from your model trains.

But for the plastic model trains, cleaning and caring will be different. In some hobby's store, they sell a liquid cleaner which is made specially for cleaning the plastic part of your model trains. There are many kind of liquid that they offer, such as heavy duty plastic cleaner, which is used for the strong job but the normal or easy part one, you can use the other plastic cleaner that the hobby's store offers.

For example there is a cleaner which is called Liquid Plastic cement, which contains of ethyl alcohol. This cleaner is used for bonding plastic parts, and you can use or apply the cleaner into your model trains by using brush.

According to an expert of model trains consultants, since there are some modern lubricants that are specifically made for use with plastic, we have to choose or purchase the correct lubricants.Try to ask your hobby's store which lubricants is the one that suitable for your model trains collection.

But in general, to clean your model trains is just a matter of removing the locomotive shell parts, then clean the parts inside from dust, hair and other dirt.

Since this model trains also have some small parts as well to be clean, probably if you want to clean your collection, you really need to serve some time special for cleaning your collection, especially if you have more than one collection.
