Saffron and Blood
Saffron and blood burn my sight;
the grainy pictures distort.
Bright brave ones show no fear,
though, others to violence resort.
Witness this horror silently;
thousands walk the road.
Quiet faces scream aloud,
-Tales of anguish unfold.
Saffron and blood color my dreams.
The bitter tears amass
ever since I watched this scene
through my Myanmar glass.
Witness this horror noisily,
you millions around the world!
Loud faces speak quietly,
-tales of sorrow unfurled.
Saffron and blood in the sky.
Messages in the air.
Gazing through Myanmar glass,
it's impossible not to care.
