Short stories: Tales of horror

she made a frantic 911 call in which she stated that the shadow was inside her home and that it or perhaps he was trying to kill her."

Then it happens, a sound; a voice. Just barely audible enough to be heard by straining ears, a voice egger to make itself know reaches out to an unsuspecting listener in Alicia Gates. Jarred from her state of fixation; Alicia manages but a single word response. " Bianca?!?"

What is initially a single voice of pain soon becomes a chorus of the damned until suddenlysilence. At that same moment Alicia's body jerks violently and then slumps heavily into the corner she had been occupying for nearly three days now. As the shadows about the room begin to pool together and gather substance a single tear treads the distance from cheek to jaw between tangled strands of raven black hair.

Attempting to summon and control any manner of dark entity for whatever personal agenda is not a job for the novice. If one must pursuit such a course of action, safety and strength can often be found in numbers. Unaided, the lone conjuror can be easily corrupted and seduced by entities called forth from the void.

Of the four, Alicia had had the most difficulty in abiding by the pact; in heeding the warnings set forth for her own protection. After her first taste of power she was hooked and could not turn back.

A group of children at play with fire; eyes glistening with awe and wonder at the serpentine like movement of the flame. How difficult is it to imagine the pain, the misery, the disaster that will follow. Now on the brink of becoming a furious inferno, this blaze that has been left unchecked to burn and consume what it will has come to collect it's final due.
Dianne, Bianca, and Megan; these souls have provided the kindling. Alicia, with her vastly untapped talent for clairvoyance was the igniting spark. Tonight, the process of whole possession is complete.

As Alicia Gates is violently evicted from the vessel of her own body and sent tumbling out into the void, a sinister presence swims up from the limitless depths of her subconscious mind. As this transference takes place the pale figure left slumped against the wall slowly falls upward onto it's feet in a haunting gravity defying display of newfound ability.

Everything about the newly dawned expression fixed upon what was once the face of Alicia Gates; from the fearsome sneer, to the eyes that shimmer like pitch black glass, all seem to personify one unavoidable truth.

Children should never play with fire.
