Herb Robertson to get involved as artistic director and music consultant, and I could do the administrative side since I believe my science background gave me that strength. We are a small independent label just willing to put out great avant-garde music, so we never had the inclination toward big business and making tons of money."
Though "Shades of Jazz on Noir" is not designed to make millions of dollars in the marketplace, the goal of this project is to make millions of people aware of Hollywood's epic period in film noir, and to show how improvised music works hand in hand with it. Film Noir represents a culture that has relevance in the modern age, showing the intense, dark and brooding side of men and women in a very stylish and dramatic way that penetrates under the audiences' skin. If the presentation of "Shades of Jazz on Noir" is able to show that visual images and avant-garde jazz music can give people goose-bumps when paired, then Ordonez has been successful in her efforts.
