Manners and morals of today's children and teens

The media portrays an endless stream of how today's children and teenagers are causing mayhem and destruction through verbal and physical means. Appearances of the lack of morals towards others are only too common and leaves those that do possess a degree of consideration and beliefs bewildered as to the how's and whys of their actions.

Long gone are the days when a person showed their similar and elder generations respect and were aware of authority. Many reasons are given for the seemingly rapid demise of the youth cultures view and actions towards the world, but it cannot be agreed as to the main cause and there appears to be no end or reduction to the all too familiar reports.

Does image play an important part? Is it necessary now to be seen as the aggressor rather than the 'timid' respectful and considerate person?

Why does it seem necessary to use foul and abusive language and to promote physical violence within teenage societies? Each day we seem to hear about gang culture and youth crime in the media, whether it is between themselves or aimed towards innocent parties.

Do we need to blame it all on the parents and the way they influence their children when bringing them up? Although some parents need to be aware of their own children copying their views and opinions towards society, some parents are fighting a seemingly losing battle against a child's compliance. The children would appear to prefer to be with their friends and known 'bad' influences and adhere to peer pressure.

Morals and doing the right thing are put aside because they do not necessarily full comprehend the impact of their actions, and dismiss any positive advice from responsible adults. They would rather fight against authority than to abide by it. Some teenagers will grow up to realize that their previous behavior was wrong and will change their own lives around for the better. Certain individuals will continue along the path of self destruction which leads into a life of continual crime and imprisonment.

The problem with this situation is that the children and teenagers that act with improper respect towards civilization will, one day, have their own children. The children will grow up witnessing how their own parents act, with the belief that there is nothing adverse with their behavior, and then the cycle continues, potentially increasing with every generation.
