I have a major gripe, not about buyers, as I don't sell on eBay at this time, but about some sellers.
I am new to eBay. Actually, I'm new to the Internet, as I've only had a computer for a few months. But in that short time, I've made several purchases on eBay.
You can probably guess what this is going to be about. That's right...feedback! I have always, on each purchase I've made, been careful to pay quickly, and do everything right. When I receive the item, I leave feedback as soon as possible. I have always given positive feedback. I would never give negative feedback, or even neutral, unless the seller really deserved it.
(For example, my mother, who is almost blind, has also bought a couple of things on eBay. One was a DVD that never arrived. Since she can't see too well, I left negative feedback for her to the seller. Didn't resolve anything. She still didn't get her DVD or her money back. But that's another issue.)
Anyhow, out of the sellers I've bought from, a few have left no feedback for me. This really bugs me, as they are so adamant that I leave positive feedback for them. So I do, and what do I get in return? Nada!
Because of this, my rating shows me at under 10. If everyone had done their part, I would have well over 10 by now. Feedback scores may not be so important to someone who's had hundreds of eBay transactions, but to someone like me who is new, it can be very important. There may be items I'm not even allowed to place a bid on because I'm showing under 10 positives. (Of the ones who did bother to leave feedback for me, it was all 100% positive. I have no negative or neutral.)
What really gets me about these people is that all of the ones who neglected to leave anything for me were all seasoned eBay sellers. I'd be quicker to forgive such an oversight by a casual or new seller, someone who just uses eBay as an international yard sale. But these sellers all have their own eBay stores and sell hundreds, or even thousands, of items. They should know better.
I realize they may be busy. But surely they can eventually find the time to leave even a one word positive message for, at least, us newbies? I did it for them!
Please, if you are a seller on eBay, leave feedback. Especially when we buyers make an effort to please you by paying on time and leaving positive feedback for you, and even more especially when you see that we are new. It might be no big deal to you, but for us it can make a world of difference.
