that at least some crop circles are of extraterrestrial origin. In more than one case, cereologists presented with crop circles were unable to tell whether the patterns were created by humans - when the creation of the patterns had been filmed by circle-makers just the night before!
If even the experts in the field of research supporting the alien origins of crop circles can't tell when humans have intervened, how can anyone? There is simply no way to tell that a crop circle has been created by aliens: no crop circles ever studied have been shown to be irreproducible by meager human means.
4) The complexity of crop circles has gradually increased, showing a learning process. As the story goes, Bower and Chorley were unhappy with the local media coverage of their first simple circles: reporters claimed the circles could easily have been created by natural phenomena. The men created more complex circles to make a fully natural explanation less likely, garnering more attention for their efforts. Since then, the art of crop circle making has broadened in complexity and popularity, growing competitive as circle-makers try to one-up one another.
If aliens traveled all the way to earth with the intent of communicating with human life, they would have their signals planned out in advance. Would a superior species learn to complicate crop circles only as quickly as human enthusiasts have? If some circles are created by aliens, why aren't they vastly more complex than those proven to be made by humans? The fist circles were simple because their creators were experimenting: only humans would be likely to start out this way.
5) Intelligent life would make its messages more clear. Crop circles are nothing but pretty, simple, geometric designs. Geometric patters are common to elementary-school math, as well as terrestrial life and terrestrial processes. Snowflakes, for example, are immensely more geometrically complex and varied than crop circles. On top of that, it's been proven that snowflakes form without human help! Why aren't we looking to them, instead, for alien messages?
The amount of intellectual effort required to decipher or decode any kind of message from crop circle patterns would far outweigh the value of whatever message could be gleaned. In other words, decipherers would have to add more meaning to the designs than they take out. Crop circles simply don't contain enough information for us to extract anything meaningful from them. In the end, we would only be
