We all want beautiful hair, and the good news is, it is completely possible without leaving a dent in your wallet or purse. Making your own hair care products at home is even better than those store-bought products because you will know exactly what's going onto your head. So, if you're ready to find out how you can get beautiful hair using natural products, then read on.
First things first, before I let you in on some tried-and-true recipes, let's go through some basic hair care.
Drink plenty of water. Get your recommended eight glasses per day, but don't exceed twelve. You need to keep your skin (which includes your scalp) and your hair hydrated.
Massage your scalp at least once a day for at least ten minutes. This will help encourage and increase blood flow to the scalp, which can feed the hair follicles and keep new growth coming.
Wash your hair with relatively cold water. It doesn't have to be freezing cold, but don't let it get boiling hot, either. The warm water will open up your follicles and leave your hair vulnerable to falling out. The cold water will help clean up your hair without leaving it damaged.
Use shampoo that has decyl glucose/decyl glucoside instead of sodium laurel sulfate, or sodium laureth sulfate. The sodium laureth sulfate is too harsh for the hair. You don't need to purchase anymore shampoos or conditioners, though, if you use the recipes below.
Let's start with the shampoos.
1. HERBAL TREATMENT
Boil together sage, chamomile, lavender, rosemary, and ginger root. You'll end up with a very aromatic tea. Leave it to cool, then use as a rinse after you use the conditioners below. Also great when used with baking soda as a base.
2. ULTIMATE CLEANSER
Mix together enough water with a cup of baking soda to make a paste. You can either put directly onto your scalp, or spread it to the rest of your head hair. Rinse thoroughly. This treatment will leave your hair squeaky clean and you didn't have to spend more than a dollar for it.
3. HONEY AND MILK
Heat up the honey until it can run. Mix with either whole milk, heavy cream, or buttermilk. The buttermilk is probably the best because it has butter fat and it also acts as a conditioner. You can do this routine right after the herbal treatment. Leave on for at least ten minutes. Make sure you rinse thoroughly.
4. FOR THE MORE LUXURIOUS...
Use about a cup or so of old champaigne and another cup of water. Pour into a bowl or into a cup. You can either dip your hair into the bowl, or pour the mixture over your
