Advantages of going paperless

note pad supplied with some paperless clinical document management systems that allows the keyboard-phobic doctor to write freehand. This then gets stored electronically on their computer.

The airline industry is also doing their bit for the environment. In September 2007 it was estimated that only 14% of airline trips in the United States use paper tickets. At the same time the airline industry clearing house announced that it will shut down its operations for paper tickets on June 1st 2008.

Not only do airlines receive Green kudos for using e-ticketing as opposed to paper tickets but the International Air Transport Association estimates that they save between $9 and $16 per ticket. With fierce competition within the aviation industry internationally any savings an airline can make in order to offer competitive prices the better.

For the small business owner going paperless is much more efficient. It cuts down on storage requirements and time taken up with filing and retrieving information. With a laptop "paperwork" can be retrieved anywhere, not just at the office. This allows businesses to truly be mobile when required.

To recap the advantages of going paperless is a clutter free office, more time for patients/clients, more efficient handling of information. To top off these advantages the economic ones are also huge, from costs saved to more free time to earn more income.
