Reflections: Why I hate reality TV shows

TV has become a obstacle course of bad behavior. Lying, cheating, slander and devious intent towards others. Why do people watch this? The "reality" is beyond me. Therefore I limit my TV viewing to comedy and movies, for the most part.

I'll clarify. I enjoy the "real" reality shows. Discovery, The History Channel (although with all the revisionism being taught throughout, one must study to have the correct information), the Food Network and the DYI's of TV viewing. Information and education are truly the only reality in the box.

So what are my complaints? Well if I wanted to wallow in all that is wrong with humanity. If I wanted to feel more secure in my existence at the expense of another's tragic experiences, I certainly would not want such televised. Therefore I do not watch. I find it profoundly tragic that people are willing to be revealed for the sinning beasts that they are, in such a public manner. It concerns me, to my spirit, that this behavior is not only condoned, but actually encouraged. Why? For TV ratings. If the individual's participating thought about it, and they must have, they are putting themselves out there in this negative and damaging manner for the increase and prosperity of others. Networks, network executives and the like are profiting from these individuals bad behavior. If these "participants" thought this through, and they must have, they are gambling on "maybe" winning the prize money, at the expense of having the nations know what lowly humans they are willing to make themselves.

I realize that I continue to say this, but there is no word better, this is tragic. We can see the negative effects surfacing. How many of these "reality characters" (and yes we somehow convince ourselves they are characters; they are not they are real everyday people!)have ended up in the news and on "entertainment rag sheet shows" for having been arrested for various criminal acts? At least three that I am aware of, not to mention the constant press on the personal defects of the "hosts" loves and lives. Its garbage being fed to a society that will eat anything.

I see no good coming of the reality machine. There is now a show that makes you tell the truth with loved ones in the audience. They know the questions beforehand and they know that they are not guaranteed which questions will come up and they know that their husband, wife, mother will be there to witness the answers. Yet, the money is so enticing, they choose to harm the very ones they love, themselves,
