Comparing Pokemon and Digimon

since it started back in 1997, due to the lack of interest of players. Many wrongly looked upon it as simply a Pokemon rip-off but the gameplay was very different. However this difference in game play also made the game less fun, because of the lack of any form of strategy. It was basically advanced Rock, Paper, Scissors but with cool looking monsters on the cards. I personally thought that the Digimon looked way cooler, but I guess the rest of the world didn't agree.

Where Digimon may have failed, the Pokemon trading card game has flourished as one of the most popular trading card games on the planet, and cards are still sold today with new decks and packs being released. The fact that Pokemon has been able to have this much success without a large part of its fan base not even knowing the rules is incredible. It really seems that all they have to do is keep releasing cool new Pokemon every once in awhile and they won't have to worry at all about actually making a functioning game. Even though they could do this, they chose not to and to my knowledge, the game is very entertaining even though I've never played it myself due to my continuing boycott of paying for shiny cool looking paper. But back when I was little, collecting cards was fun just because it was fun to open up a booster pack with the hope that you just might find a Charizard within all of those energies and low level Pokemon.

Even though both of these two series hold a special place in my heart, they both have their places. Digimon will always be better than Pokemon when it comes to film and television. It funnier, looks way cooler, and has overall had a much better story and plotline than Pokemon has ever produced. It is not a copy of Pokemon as I have heard many times before, and is in fact better than Pokemon will ever be due to its desire to actually show us something actually entertaining than just something to satiate the appetites of the millions of little kids who will love anything with Ash and Pikachu in it.
The two respective card games, of both I never actually played with the rules, and even though I don't collect anymore, they will always be a reminder of the when I was little and would beg my mom to buy me the latest booster pack. Pokemon the RPG will always be one of my top choices for whenever I'm on the go and looking for something to do. It is incredibly fun, a little addictive, and until I finally get that perfect squad, I doubt I will ever stop playing, at least not until the new one comes out.
