are more likeable and are easy to connect with, and every season has been good, well except for the fourth. The overarching story between all of the seasons relates to the "Digital World", a manifestation of the worlds digital communication network and its inhabitants, "Digimon", who are creatures that are made from the data. The relation to the real world makes the series feel a little more believable and was very well thought out by the writers. Although this concept is present in all of the five seasons, it merely drives the story and doesn't make all of the season seem the same like its counterpart, Pokemon.
The movies that have been related to the series, there are eight of them, are very well produced and I still have one of the first ones my Ipod. Digimon simply dominates Pokemon when it comes to non-interactive entertainment.
Pokemon on the other hand, not so much. Pokemon may span over 500 episodes, almost double the amount of Digimon episodes, the quality is debatable to say the least. The characters are happy-go-lucky and are predictable and boring. They always beat the bad guy against all odds on the first try and it is hard to feel sympathetic for them when they seem to have the God of Pokemon on their side at all times. The story is boring and unvaried from season to season and to be honest, Ash needs to evolve Pikachu, find something else to do, and finally age a little. All that the story seems to entail is beating the gym leaders, beating some legendary Pokemon, and fighting some form of champions from the region, and its getting old. In fact it felt overused after the end of the first full season. It is simply part of product line looking to satisfy children with flashing colors and shallow characters, not to truly entertain someone who wants something a little deeper, and the movies are no different. They seemed cooler when we were younger, but looking back, it was a waste of time. They are predictable, boring, and are just made to make money, instead of actually make something half-decent, and the fact that every movie came with a promo card only solidifies this argument. Even the actual creatures that the show is focused around are annoying except for Mewtwo and Meowth who happen to be able to talk. The monsters only seem to live to battle and are even shallower than the human characters. I can only hear "Pika pika!" so many times after all before wondering about the best way to kill that little rat.
Digimon as a card series has died out
