have social gathering with friends sharing food, spending time together. Western culture is different. They don't usually invite visitors to eat with them in their tables unless it is a special occasion. When you are in their house while they were eating, they will not ask you to join with them. If you are hungry, you should ask them food and they will give you. They will not offer something because according to my American friend it might insult somebody. Well, that's their culture and we should respect them too.

In courtship and marriage, Asian and Western cultures are different. Asian ladies are reserved
particularly Filipinos. Usually the men will do the courting and he should asked permission from the parents of the lady when they will go out on a date. It is always proper for the guy to visit the lady in the home rather than meeting her anywhere. Western culture has no proper courting. When they like each other on their first meeting, that's it. Just mutual understanding and they are already in a relationship. Asian is different. The man should asked the girl. He will do the first move and it will take time for him to get the answer either yes or no. Western is different. Either the man or the woman can do the first move, and when they're done, it's done. Asian is usually serious when it comes to commitment. They will stay with their partners as long as they can take it.
