Poetry: Prisoner of the world

we were born for adversity.
and thank the Lord, i've had my share.
for solace always comes to me
on bended knees in prayer.

i give thanks for my life
and unwanted blessings that come in disguise
dressed in garments of stress and strife
that do more than i realize.

every time something gets in my way;
and hinders the things, i'm trying to do
"just bring it on," is all i can say,
cause it's a another point of view.

you can't have steel without the fire.
you can't know peace without the pain,
but an end to all suffering is my desire
in a world washed pure by rain.

hunger and hatred would collect in pools,
evaporating in the sun.
enlightenment would wash over fools
and drown the selfish ones.

no more fighting in the world.
no more men against men.
a safe place for boys and girls.
and we could all begin again.
