What happened to recess?

To much of anything is monotonous.Non stop learning in classrooms can be disastrous.Children may start loosing attention. They may start writing little messages and passing them to each other under the desk.Children may start sleeping during the lesson. This is a typical indicator that children are tired and they need recess. Recess is important in the life of every school across the globe.

I was sitting in my classroom one day during recess the pupils where in the play ground.
I peeped through the window to actually see for myself, what happened to recess? This school was in Africa.Children outside were busy playing different games and the play ground was filled with noise of joy. Some children were going in and coming out of the toilets. The deduction I got from this was recess is important time in the school time able. It makes pupils have time to refresh, open their lunch boxes and have a bite of their apples and bananas. Recess is also good for teachers because it gives them time to go out and have a fag, prepare for the next lesson and have a chart with the teacher next door.

Children love recess because it prepares their mind and body for the next lessons of the day.Play hard ,learn hard is part of recess's activities. I observed one day that during recess some children will be reciting their poems to each other, whilst others will be playing "on your horse backs game" There is a hive of activities during recess some delinquent children will take recess as the right time to settle their scores by punching other pupils. The bully pupils should be watched during recess because the whole playground may be filled with noises of crying pupils who would have been punched by the giants of the play ground,"bullies."

Teachers shouldn't be complacent during recess they need to monitor the activities of the children.Recess is the time when some naughty children can sneak out of the school fence in to the busy streets and can be knocked down by cars. Some children can take recess as the golden chance to run away from lessons. While recess is very important in the life of a school it can also be disastrous.

A case in point is this, at one of the many schools I taught ,a child swallowed a dangerous substance, thankfully to the watchful eyes of the school prefects he was whisked to hospital for help. In conclusion recess is very important in the life of schools. It is the crucial time when pupils can have their liberty to rediscover themselves in song and dance., share a chocolate or bask in the sun or phone their parents at home.

Recess is vital because it prepares the pupils for the next lesson. It also enable the teacher to put his teaching and learning aids inorder before the next lesson. It is a time of reflection on the previous and the coming lessons on the part of the hardworking teacher. For the pupils it is the time for them to play as much as they want in the school play ground.
