Being addicted to video games and simply needing a break from them are two different things. Having an addiction to video games is having a dependency on them, and not being able to go through your daily life without playing your Xbox, or powering up your Alienware gaming personal computer. When you're addicted to video games, you are drawn to them as if supernaturally, and you definitely have a serious problem. However, needing a break from video games is when you are developing an addiction to them. You are on the path to becoming a video game addict, and you will begin to feel the symptoms of it if you stare at that screen for too long as you carve your way through virtual enemy battalions in your favorite video game.
Bloodshot eyes. This sign is something that is caused by your eyes' intense concentration on the computer or television screen; basically, it means that you are playing too hard, getting too into the game, or playing for too many consecutive hours. This is also fueled by a lack of sleep, which may in turn be caused by playing your Xbox while you should be sleeping. When your eyes start to feel dry, itchy, then suddenly watery, you know that you need to take a break for at least an hour for them to recover.
Headaches. You will experience headaches if you concentrate too much on the gaming screen for too long and look at almost nothing else. This is a rather minor symptom, however, and is easily cured by tearing yourself away from the game for about half an hour or so, getting something to eat, having a small drink of water, and just resting your eyes. Yet, if your headache persists for over an hour, then you should forget about video games and get some rest.
Fatigue or weakness. If you experience an abnormal rush of fatigue or weakness while playing video games, then you need to take a break. This symptom usually doesn't manifest itself unless you have been playing video games excessively for a few weeks, but it can seriously harm your body. You may find it difficult to carry out tasks such as walking up the stairs, lifting semi-hefty objects basically, your body's muscle is slowly degenerating. Avoid this at all costs.
Laziness. This doesn't have to be caused by fatigue, as half of a person's drive, or how active they are feeling, is determined by their current mental state. If you are feeling lazy, you will not want to get up off the couch and go to work, because it would just be so much easier for you to sit where you are and continue to play
