The first time I visited New York City was when I was eight years old, and I loved it! Here are some of my recommendations for a family-friendly trip to New York:

SUPER-SIZED TOY STORES

Toy stores are like a dream come true for children, and the selection in the Big Apple is quite impressive.

F.A.O Schwarz
Everyone is sure to remember this toy store from the movie "Big." F.A.O Schwarz is truly spectacular. With the famous giant piano keys, to the life-sized stuffed animals (my favorite!), this toy store is incredible and was a backdrop for many of my childhood dreams.

American Girl Place
This is a really neat store. Not only do they have a huge assortment of American Girl dolls, but also they have a Theatre with shows about the American Girls, a book club, and a doll hair salon.

Nintendo World
If your children are into video games, they won't want to miss Nintendo World. They can try out games, and play each other in multiplayer game stations. And, as luck would have it, it is located in Rockefeller Plaza, so you can sneak out and do some shopping of your own.

MUSEUMS AND ZOOS

Bronx Zoo
The Bronx Zoo is always a hit with children, with exciting camel rides, a bug carousal and a children's petting zoo.

Children's Museum of the Arts
There are many great hands-on activities for your children at the Children's museum of the Arts, including working with clay, drawing classes, and musical story time. Check out the website to see current options!

American Museum of Natural History
This museum is great for kids, with its large dinosaur fossil collection and impressive Earth and Space planetarium. This is sure to be an enjoyable and educational stop during your visit.

CENTRAL PARK

The park has many fun options for children, including the Central Park Zoo, 21 playgrounds, boat rides, a carousel, storytelling at a marionette Theater, and more.

EVENING ENTERTAINMENT

There are currently a few options for Broadway shows that are suitable for children. Check out the Lion King, or Beauty and the Beast.
