1-Field Museum of Natural History
This is a must see museum! Be prepared to think big as you enter this nine-acre space. The first thing you encounter will be a huge Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton. This alone is worth the visit. But don't stop here; continue to explore other areas which include geology, anthropology, botany and paleontology. Be sure to check out the exhibits on George Washington Carver and the Evolving Planet. This is one museum the kids will love too.
2-Museum of Science and Industry
The whole family will enjoy this museum because it is a hands-on place. There are over two thousand interactive exhibits for all age groups. Some of the exhibits you can both see and experience are U-505 Submarine, The Coal Mine, Baby Chick Hatchery, The Great Train Story, Toy Maker 3000, Earth Revealed, Genetics, Colleen Moore's Fairy Castle, the Pioneer Zephyr, Farm Tech and Take Flight.
There is also a five story OmniMax Theatre where you will visit outer space and under the sea in a virtual voyage. This is another can't miss' museum!
3-Art Institute of Chicago
This fine museum of art has an impressive collection including the world's largest group of Monet paintings. Other famous artist also represented here are Picasso, Matisse, Dali, Pollock, Andy Warhol and Van Gogh.
Paintings are not the only art form you will find here. Sculptures, artifacts and beautiful china and jewelry, to name a few, are also on display. You just have to visit the Art Institute of Chicago to know what wonderful and diverse exhibits it has to offer.
4-Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum
Bring the whole family and plan to spend the entire day to see all you can. Check out the Shoot for the Moon exhibit with six fun and informative interactive experiences. Learn about mysterious Black Holes and take a 3-D simulation trip through space using controls in the armrests of your seat.
