Our children learn how to drive before they become of age. They learn by our example. Do you run yellow lights? Curse other drivers? Put on makeup, brush your hair, talk on a cell phone, and that list gets longer and longer as our technology increases. How about speeding? You just need to get little Joey to soccer or Amy to dance. Or you are up late and need to get to the airport.
We teach our children from the moment they are born. How can you teach a child how to drive if you never took a course yourself. With all of our technology, the increase in our population increasing and exceeding our ability to keep up with the infrastructure, how can we teach our children how to drive properly?
With all our traffic increasing and having to share the road with motorcycles, Semi tractor trailers, etc., we need to teach our children proper manners. Motorcycles can become almost invisible, Semi's sometimes can't see other vehicles, add to this all of our new fangled technoligical toys, friends, and our children are an accident waiting to happen. How can you teach them all of this?
We need to teach our kids the proper way to drive long before they come of age. It should be part of their school curriculum. They can use us for examples of bad habits and learn how to share the road without becoming a statistic. Most of us never use the history we took in school, or the science until it comes time to help Johnny with his homework and they likely will be the same way. One consistant they will have is driving. Most of them will do that longer than most anything else they learn in school. Some, with our technological advances, may even be driving something into the next century and how many of us will there be then or what will they be driving? They need to be taught properly and better than we are doing now.
