Busted: Which Celebrities Are You Surprised To See Here?

When Mel Gibson was busted for DUI on the roads of Los Angeles in 2006, and to make matters worse for himself made some derogatory remarks about Jewish people while insulting a female officer at the same time! He was a great rehabilitator however and the Judge in his case released him from his mandatory AA meetings and weekly progress reports to the Court early. Everyone loves Mel Gibson, and his was perhaps the biggest fall from our collective pedestal thus far.

Keifer Sutherland, another heavy hitter in Lala land, made his first DUI appearance in 2004; and not having learned his lesson the first time was busted once again last October. Because this latest bust was his second offence, he received an extra charge: 30 days Plus 18 days behind bars! He spent his birthday, Christmas and New Years working in the laundry room and helping in the kitchen in the Glendale, California jail. Mr. Sutherland was reported to have been a model prisoner who did not ask for deferential treatment. I was extremely impressed with his not trying to wriggle out from under his responsibility. Good Job, Keifer!

Gary Collins. As much as I would like to report a typo here, Gary Collins was arrested in Sherman Oaks, California in October 2007 after a car accident (ruled to be not his fault) involving another driver and two parked cars. The 69 year old television host, Hollywood Squares regular, with appearances on JAG and The Young and The Restless, did not pass his field sobriety test and was found to be over the legal limit of .08 blood alcohol level.

Haley Joel Osment the child star of Sixth Sense, Pay it Forward, Secondhand Lions, and AI was also arrested for DUI in July 2006 after flipping his vehicle in Los Angeles. This writer was so very heartbroken over this particular announcement, as many adults feel that he was one our own. Mr. Osment was also charged with possession of Marijuana during the investigation.

Michelle Rodriguez is an exemplary actress. After her one-year role on the now lost ABC hit LOST, Ms. Rodriguez went on the make several movies including Basic (with John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson), The Fast and the Furious (with Vin Diesel), and Girlfight. Her latest arrest for DUI in October of 2007 comes on the heals of two separate incidents in L.A. in 2003 and another DUI in Hawaii in 2005. Ms. Rodriguez was forced to wear an anklet to monitor her alcohol intake, serve community
