Becoming a gaming industry programmer requires skills and expert knowledge of programming, math, computer science, and physics to name just a few. A programmer is required to have knowledge, dedication, and possess great team player capabilities. Just being great at playing the video games does not make you a great programmer. In other words, there is more to being a gaming programmer than most people realize. Some feel like video programming is something easily done. Nothing could be further from the truth in today's gaming industry. Programming games requires long hours of research and development. Today's gaming programmers are required to complete specific courses to graduate with a bachelor's degree. Times have changed and it is no longer best to be a programmer without a degree and just be a hobbyist programmer.
