Poetry: Pain from love

SUPERFICIAL

Why pretend that you love me
Does that give rise to your selfish terms of endearment?
Keeping you on a natural roller-coaster of self evidence
While mocking my vulnerability exposed to you

Test my words by making unrequited requests
Destined to please you for your self endured emptiness
Always looking for the next phase of evidence
Of the one who has professed her love to you?

Heartbroken yet confused by your inconsistent emotions
Written not spoken kept in your own memory
Divided my soul into uncertainty because I cared
Wanting to believe that I have met my match

A lover who is as intense yet sincere open to suggestion
Of giving to another what is received on a daily
Satisfying each person never denying the obvious
Only to be fooled by your derision of potential

Curbed to your needs for attention one sided
Stopping your reflection of your love' into falsehood
Giving me the truth about your intention for your needs
To be met while neglecting my womanhood once stroked

Am I sure that I want to cease the outpouring of affection
No, but out of salvation and sanity I must discontinue
The onslaught of consideration towards the one who ignores
My appeal for reciprocity that used to be met

Giving me the notion that your words were lies
Geared toward self satisfaction purely for your benefit
Selfish needs that forget the one who has supplied
Love to the one who acted as if it was mutual

Have I misinterpreted moments of intensity
When we were alone keeping company to ourselves
Stroking the passion of our mutual attraction
Lost in the role of the satisfying lover

Each time trying to show the depth of the devotion
Committing the ultimate need of human beings
Showing love consideration and understanding unlimited
Proving comfort can be sexy and genuine despite the moment

You used to love me and now it has dissipated
Causing my heart to have beats that are inconsistent
With the normal flow of the way we used to be
Before the cloud of disagreement crossed over your world
Leaving you to regress to the one who didn't

    You left me for another,
But I do not feel pain.
    I feel nothing.
    I am numb.
    Standing in the snow
    The wind blew against me.
    But
