In our daily lives we spend time learning about our spouse children friends and so on. Even more importunately we should spend time learning about and getting to know God personally. Have you ever have a great longing to really know god on a personal level. This where it all start, desire! You might think that it is not possible but it is I have done it. If we are children of God this is a desire we should have at one point or another. We should not settle just to know about him, there is a difference. To build any relationship and getting to know someone we must spend time with them to learn their likes and dislikes. Have you ever seen God smile? Well he does smile. He even makes jokes to bring a smile to my face. He can be quite funny! But how can I know god like this you may ask. The answer is, spending time with him. Talking and listening to him. Tell him any and everything likes you would you best friend, he loves that. Keep your mind on him 24/7 and see what happen. Remember, wherever we put our focus that is what we produce.
Knowledge is great, but the highest knowledge to which we can obtain is a personal knowledge of our creator. The great thing about gaining this knowledge is that we do not have to go to school or any other place, it is already provided for us in our daily lives as we walk with him. The best place to start seeking this knowledge is the wonderful book call "The Bible". This is our guide.
Having a personal relationship with God does not come naturally however. As I said before it all start with a desire to know him as you would a spouse or anyone else. Romans 3:10-11 says, "as it is written, there is none righteous, no not one, there is none that seeketh after God," therefore, because of our unrighteousness we have to totally depend upon the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth, to teach us about God, so to speak. It is very important to note that we have to be active in this process. We have to become seekers of God. How do we seek? By studying the word of God, praying (talking to him) and listening to him. I find that we are very good at talking but not listening. A relationship is no good with out communication, which is talking and listening. When we read and study God's words that are a part of listening. God also speak to our hearts and in our spirit. To know God personally it takes faithfulness, consistency and discipline. I cannot stress this enough, it all start with desire!
It is very crucial to have a personal relationship
