If you had asked me this question when I was a young Bible college student, I probably would have laughed at you, and said that twas fantasy and delusion. My aunt often told a story about driving her car, and losing control. She felt what she called a "presence" grab the wheel and turn the car away from the rock column she was about to hit head-on. I always (at that time) thought she had imagined what happened in a moment of panic and turned the wheel herself. Now, I am not so sure because of two things that have happened to personal family members since. I experienced one of these incidents myself, and know the other person very well, and feel that they would not make this up.
My older brother has suffered from benign but dangerous brain tumors much of his life. At age eleven, he had the first tumor that took most of his sight. His recovery was nothing short of miraculous, defying the doctors and all odds of ever walking or talking again. After he went to college, grew up and was married, the tumors recurred. He was very sick and very scared. On the night before his surgery, he was all alone in the hospital, having asked my parents to stay with his wife.As he lay in his hospital bed, an angel appeared to him, took his hand, and called him by name. The angel told him that he should not worry or be scared. He was going to be fine. And he was! He had not been given any medication as of yet, so he knew this was not a re-action to medications.
This next instance is much more personal. My youngest son, now nearly twenty-six years old, was once a careless nine year old. After church one evening, while walking what his Dad, he ran across the street into the path of an oncoming car. He hit so hard his head broke the hood ornament on the car. He was rushed to the hospital, suffering from obvious concussion, but as we would learn miraculously unhurt in any other way. When I got the chance to talk to him later abut the accident, he hesitated then told me what he remembered. "Mom, it was so strange. An angel picked me up and set me in the dirt on the other side of the road. I was afraid to say anything, but it really happened and I will never forget it".
These two examples alone are enough to make me say that Yes, I believe there are angels among, helping us, guarding us and keeping watch. Many people who have come to Christ have stated that there are unexplainable moments of protection, guidance and help when they had no reason to expect any.
