North Shore, Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side sits upon the pristine shore of sparkling Lake Tahoe less then an hours drive from Reno. Lake Tahoe is the largest Alpine lake in North America.
Incline Village is the hub of activity on the North Shore and is a bustling community that's constantly abuzz with activities for the entire family regardless of the season.
Above Incline Village on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe at approximately 8000 feet stands Tyrolian Village where you can experience the most breath-taking views of the Lake. Hidden Beach and scenic Memorial Point are close by and situated between Incline Village and Sand Harbor.
In the winter the entire North Shore is covered by blankets of pure white snow. Incline Village is home to Diamond Peak Ski Resort. With over 655 acres of terrain to accommodate skiers and snow-boarders alike. Affordable rates for groups of ten or more for as little as $32 a day.
Mt. Rose ski resort is also a great resort to visit with a base elevation of 8,260, and with parking lots that are higher than the summits at some other areas and with nearly 1,000 acres and almost 1,500 vertical feet of bowls, trees and glades.
Mt. Rose is less then an hour from Reno and has the distinction of being the closest major resort to an international airport in the world. Mt. Rose has official been around since 1965 but locals have been sking the area since the 1930's.
When the long cold winters leave the shores of North Lake Tahoe and the skiers pack up their gear for the season, another activity takes center stage. This event I speak of is the annual Shakespeare Festival which is North Lake Tahoe's premier summer spectacle.
This tradition dates back 35 years, with local residents and visitors to Incline Village relaxing on the sandy beaches, drinking wine, and enjoying the "Bard." Ticket prices range from $20 to $70 depending upon location, and tickets for the 2008 summer season can be purchased by calling (800) 74-SHOWS.
Golf is alive and well on the North Shore with two excellent courses at Incline Village, the Championship Course and the Mountain Course. Incline golf shops are rated in the top 100 best in the world, and the courses in the top ten best in the state by Golf Digest Magazine.
The Mountain Course has had the distinct honor of being designated as a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The communities that surround the North Shore are very conservation conscience and committed to preserving the natural beauty of the area.
Incline Village also boasts Lake Tahoe's finest fitness and recreation center. This first-class complex is over 37,000 square feet with a large variety of activities for all ages, and warmly welcomes out of town visitors.
The activities are numerous and include fitness and personal training, massage therapy, and even aqua fitness in a the centers full sized, heated pool.
The North Shore at Tahoe has a list of never-ending things to do, infinite places to see, and endless people to meet in this friendly scenic mountain community.
