Best inexpensive gifts for newborns

Baby is here and you're stretching your budget. Let's discuss some inexpensive yet wonderful gifts for newborns. We will be honest and say that any gift for a newborn is really, in all honesty, for the new parents. The baby could care less what name brand, what color, or what the price of the gift as long as they are warm, fed, and loved. Mom and dad will be the judge of your gift, and lets make the most of the last few dollars you have!

1. Get creative. Make something. If you are handy start by looking at the theme of the baby room. Make a shelf, make a frame, make a step stool. If you are crafty make a scrap book, decorate a frame, or make a shadow box. If you can sew you have items such as wall hangings, stuffed toys that are just the right size, or even a special sweater or hat for baby.

2. Get thinking. You can find many "small" baby items for rather cheap that added together can be a great gift. Purchase the travel size shampoo, lotion, and powder. Buy a travel size wipe container. Buy travel size hand sanitizer (for mom and dad). Put all of these "travel" items together to make a "diaper" bag goodie pack. Include as much as you can, shop in the travel isle at your local store where items are usually a dollar a piece. For the items listed above, you have only spent $5.00. Add a few more, that most don't think of. A small toy for baby, a small photo album for showing off the latest holiday or pictures, or even a simple bib would be appropriate. The more money you want to spend the more little items you can buy, but having your diaper bag outfitted is a wonderful thing, and most shower goers do not buy the travel sized items.

3. Use your computer. Do some research and make a "On the day you were born" or a photo collage for the babies room. It is easy to find the prices on items, local headlines, and other information on the date the baby was born. If you have great handwriting, write it all out, or even print it out on some appropriate paper and frame it for in the babies room. If you have access to photos, make a computer composite of the photos and add the date, weight, length, and time of birth. Again, frame it for hanging in the babies room.

4. Save mom and dad money. You're on a tight budget, and so are they. Collect coupons for baby items such as diapers, formula, clothes and the like. Send them to mom and dad with a note each month, or bring them over when you visit. Saving them money can be almost free for
