Reasons to quit your job:
1. If your job is damaging your health, then no amount of money is worth that sacrifice. It's time to find another job, and quick. There are many ways that a job can be dangerous to your health, not all of them are so obvious. Extreme stress will age you in a hurry and can cause many types of illness. There are also plenty of companies out there that do not provide safe working environments for their employees. Your health and safety is worth too much to risk it for a job.
2. If your job does not pay what your services are worth and you can get more money from a different employer, then hit the road. We all work to make money, or at least I do. If I didn't have to work for a living, then you would find me playing on the beach every day.
3. If you can't get along with your co-workers or your managers and it is affecting your job performance, then you need to first try to resolve your differences with them. If you've tried and still can't resolve the problems, then you should try to find employment elsewhere. If you have to work at a job all day long, or even a few hours, then you should at least be able to enjoy what you're doing without dealing with constant conflict.
4. If you have a very long commute and are able to find equal work at equal pay closer to home. I know plenty of people who travel an hour in each direction every day for work. I've never understood it in the many cases where there are plenty of good jobs closer to their homes that would likely pay more.
5. If you discover that the company you're working for is doing something illegal or unethical, then get out. Don't look back, just leave and find another job. I don't care how much money you're making or what your financial situation is like. Get out and don't look back. Listen to a voice of experience on this one.
6. If you win the lottery or suddenly come into a fortune large enough to sustain you for the rest of your life, then ditch the job and go have some fun. Life is too short to not enjoy every minute of it while you can.
7. If someone offers you a much better job with better pay or better benefits and your current employer is unable or unwilling to match their offer, then quit.
There are plenty of other reasons to quit your job as well, but before doing so, you should always take into consideration the consequences before you quit. You also should consider the consequences of staying. Many people in this day and age hop from one job to the next just to keep things more interesting. The only problem with this is once you've hopped a few too many times, most employers won't want to hire you because they want someone who is more loyal. Just don't be too hasty in making your decision and do what is best for you and your family.
