I write this article as a person who was born in Ohio and left because of the excessive interference of the state in the lives of people. I also refused a job that would have paid higher in Ohio but the fact that there were higher taxes including the air that one breathes is enough to say forget it. The problem with Ohio and its people is the fact that the majority has this "Banana Republic" mentality inherent in the American Continent. This mentality is "the State should care for me from womb to tomb". It is the mentality that leaves people who want to have their own property without the need for excess taxes in a state of telling Ohio that "We Do Not Want Your Business".
It was the same taxes on property and everything else by Republicans and Democrats that lead people to find better pastures in the South, Latin America, China, Vietnam, and even Africa. It is not the cheap labour either. It is the fact that Ohio taxes on property, businesses, and even gasoline or petrol is enough for people to say "Enough". The majority of the people of Ohio who stay blame the economic problems that they have on "foreigners" and "people who do not look American enough". They blame the North American Free Trade Agreement otherwise known as NAFTA for their problems when Ohio should be ridding itself of excess government and separating state and property.
I have not seen Ohio in almost twenty five years and I will only go to show my wife and daughter "the place" of the excess property taxes. While I took the American Route of leaving Ohio just like the majority of the people leave their home states in search of better conditions, freedom, or happiness; I would like to applaud the Libertarian Party of Ohio in their efforts of struggling to separate Property from State. I would also like to extend the same applause to the Ohio Republic Movement [which advocates the independence of Ohio from the United States of America].
The Libertarian Party of Ohio and the Ohio Republic Movement are aware of the restrictive taxes on property and want to remedy with the separation of the state from property as well as the separation of the state from all walks of life. The people should be the government and should take responsibility for asking their elected officials to govern effectively and one of the ways to govern effectively is to respect the right of people to have private property and not pay unfair and exorbitant taxes.
