Poetry: The power of a mother's love

by Frank Lavoine

Created on: March 13, 2008

Corporate laid off, I returned to the nest,
And found solace and comfort.
A mother's love reassures the goodness
In this often heartless world.
A mother's love shows itself with smiles,
With laughs, with understanding. A love
All consuming and forever here in this world.

A mother's love touches secret places in the heart.
A place in need of kindness,
A place where humans can be humans in the better
Sense of the word.
A place where one feels the goodness in life.

Outside my mother's door are strangers,
Some good, some bad, most indifferent.
I know a few outside, I know them not like
I know my mother. She's been there for me
I've been there for her, all of these years.

It's a connection forever forged.
With reason, she's my mother.
