Symptoms and treatment of anxiety

Though a growing problem in the United States, especially among women, Anxiety is highly misunderstood. With the mention of any type of 'mental disorder', it is automatically assumed that one is crazy, or unstable. The realization of it all is that Anxiety disorders are quite common, and incredibly frightening. It is so common, in fact that one may not even be aware that they are indeed in possession of the condition. The key thought that you must maintain while suffering from Anxiety, or anxiety attacks is that you are in control of your health. Do not allow the anxiety to control you, because it will so long as you let it.

~Symptoms.
It is said that the most common symptoms of anxiety disorders mimic that of a heart attack. This is only helpful though if you have had a heart attack and know what to expect. Anxiety symptoms are laced with fear, abnormal heart pounding, shaking, nausea, shortness of breath, severe headaches, tight muscles, and in some cases, a clenched jaw. It is likened to being under complete stress constantly. These are the things that happen upon a daily basis if your anxiety problems persist, or if you are not taking the proper medication. Excessive worrying about things that are normal every day occurrences is a huge factor with anxiety. This worrying and fear often takes over rational thinking and causes other symptoms to increase. It is not uncommon to experience these symptoms on a daily basis.

~Causes.
Many people are predisposed to panic, anxiety disorders, anxiety depression, by way of genetics. The most common of the problems is that of social anxiety disorder. Social anxiety disorder is a feeling that you get when faced with the idea of going out in public. This may be attending parties, going out with a bunch of friends, anything that causes you to feel uncomfortable that should otherwise be fun or happy times. Chemical imbalances also wreak havoc on your mind and can be a major anxiety inducer. This is why anti-anxiety medication is prescribed, to balance the needs that your mind is overcompensating for. There are many other factors as well; stress, work, school, relationships, and health or money. Often times the feelings that you may have about any of these things will appear ten-fold and for no reason.

~Attacks.
Anxiety attacks are traumatic experiences, and may often leave one feeling frightened at experiencing more after having one. They are frightening, and can lead to your feeling as if they can take over your entire life.
