Best Things about spring

One of the best reasons is we are finally leaving the long cold winter weather behind us for another year. Spring starts for me once the time changes. Seeing the days grow longer makes me look forward to the snow going away and the warm weather on its way. I love to watch the snow turn into puddles of water, then drying up until they get smaller and smaller, until they are gone completely. Smelling the clean air after the rains of April getting rid of the dirt that has been left after the snow is gone. Putting our heavy cloths away and digging out our lighter, summer wardrobe. Not having to bundle up with all those heavy cloths.

I live in Northern Ontario and we have had a long cold winter this year. I hope that I speak for a lot of people that this has been the hardest winter that we have had in a long time, in this area.

The first part of spring will bring the robins out for another year of beautiful singing. It brings the geese back into our area. Then sit back and watch the baby geese following their mother around collecting food where ever they can find it. Finding the bird nests in the trees that are already filled with tiny eggs, and waiting for them to hatch.

Seeing the first signs of the green grass start to grow on our lawns, not looking forward to cutting it, but it does look nice once it has been done. Watch for the first signs of the bud on the trees, turning into leaves, and blossom on the fruit trees. Seeing the dandelions pop up all over everyone's lawns like locust.

I lave when it is finally time to start planting the flower garden, so we can enjoy the looks, and smell of beautiful flowers growing around the houses and along the walkways. Planting our vegetable gardens and watching our fresh vegetable grow, unless we get an animal who likes the fresh vegetables as much as we do, coming into our gardens and stealing every thing while we are sleeping.

Going to the parks, and watching all the small children at play, while we throw around a Frisbee, or a base ball, or foot ball, whatever you like to throw around when you are at the park. Getting ice-cream cones from the canteens and sitting on a picnic bench and watching the geese look for food. Looking forward to going to the beach on the hot summer days, to go swimming. Just sitting on a bench by the lake, watching the boat go flying by, or the bigger boats just barely moving on by, (so it seem), but moving just the same.

It's also a time when we can bring out the barbecue so we can enjoy all the foods we cook on them. Food never tastes better than on a barbecue, we get the taste of charcoal throughout our meats and vegetables. Getting together with friends on a warm evening, and have a party outside on the patio. Whether the food is cooked just right or whether it is burnt, it tastes SOoooo goooood.

Spring also brings the beautiful sunsets. I just love to sit out on my balcony, and watch the sun go down over the water, it so lovely to watch all those colorful changes that will take place at sunset.

I know I have missed a lot of reasons why I like the spring time coming to us, but these are just some of the things that I like best. I hope everyone gets out, and enjoys this spring, because we have had a long cold winter this year, and I hope it's not too hot throughout this summer, it seems that the summers have been extremely hot. The weather goes from one extreme to another. Enjoy your spring, and get out and enjoy you summer as well.
