The best part of photos is sharing them and preserving them. Photos are memories you want to last, and ones you want your friends and family to see. There are many photo places out there for you to share your photos, but they all have their pros and cons. The three main issues are cost, storage space, and the ease of sharing. Can you get the best of all three? The answer is yes you can, thanks to Pixie!
The two big players in online photo sharing are Flickr and Google's Picasa Web Albums. They both have free versions, but I think Flickr's free version is some what useless, and more of a trial. Google's Picasa Web Albums also has a free version but you are limited in storage, but its a bit better then Flickr's free version. One online photo sharing community not well known at all is Pixie (www.pix.ie) it is completely free and does not lack on features.
For a pro account at Flickr you need to pay $25 a year, and you will have unlimited storage and access to all their features. Google on the other hand does not offer unlimited storage but offers different plans at different prices that can get pretty pricey. The plans range from 10 gigs at $20 a year to 400 gigs at $500 a year! So what does Pixie have to offer? Pixie is completely free allowing an unlimited number of photos at full resolution for free. The only restriction is you can only upload up to 500mb a month. That's giving you 6 gigs of photos a year for free! That means in two years you could have 12 gigs of photos online for free. For the average photographer is is plenty of space a month, allowing you to upload lots and lots of memories.
Once your photos are on Pixie you can have an unlimited mount of albums, can add tags to photos and share with privacy settings. You can easily edit photos titles and descriptions with anajax interface, allowing you to just click them and edit them within the page. You can easily share your albums by sending friends and family members a link, and they do not need to register to view your photos. Lastly you can change the privacy of each album so only certain groups can see them; for example, everyone, friends, and family. Lastly your friends and family can comment on all your photos.
Pixie is a great online photo storage and sharing site, with lots of great features and space all for free, now how can you beat that! Go check out Pixie for yourself at: www.pix.ie
