The pros and cons of joining an online gaming guild or clan

MMORPG games are all about the items you pick up and in most of them there are several ways to do that, but most often you will need more people than yourself. And the easiest way to get more people is to join a guild that is already in the process of clearing places you need to go so you don't have to found your own guild which can often be a slow and impossible process. By joining a guild you will have to adapt to other people and live by other peoples rules which is of course the downside as you probably wont have any power at all as a new member. You might not know anyone in the guild which can make it rather weird in the start, but you will soon find some people you will find cool, in most guilds that is the case anyway.

When joining a guild your main motivation will be making your character stronger, while making friends come in the second row. Eventually you will make friends though and they might turn out to be the only motivation to keep staying in the guild at times. Because the fact is being in a guild can be really frustrating business, you will rely on a lot of people that often might no be as dedicated as you. Random people eating dinner, doing other stuff and leaving early during raids can be enough to drive you out of your mind. And then you might wish you never started to play the stupid game in the first place. Playing MMORPG games at a high end level is very demanding from every player and if every player doesn't perform it gets really boring and frustrating for others. And this is really a good reason to never get involved in raiding at all, it will really frustrate you more than it will benefit you. You should rather join a guild for the social aspect of it and take raiding as a bonus, sadly there are few guilds that manage to take raiding as a casual thing. Either is is serious business or it is not at all.

If you sit now wondering if you want to join a end game guild or not I would say it depends on the way you want to play the game. And how much you are prepared to play it is raiding often can turn into a second job with all the work around it to make it work. If you are fine with playing a lot and doing a lot of the same things to get better items then raiding will probably be for you. If you are rather inpatient and in a rush I would suggest you to take up PVP or something like that as it is less frustrating and less time consuming. Raiding can be a lot of fun, but only until it gets too serious, then it can seriously eat up your life.
