Christian thoughts on the power of healing

it until we understand what is going on. Once we know what the problem is, we can start thinking about how to help ourselves.
Sometimes, there is a big avalanche of things that need attention. Usually it's best to deal with things one at a time. We can pray for guidance, and remember to thank God for the healing that is happening. If we don't feel better right away, we need to keep working patiently and trust God as best we can to guide us through the wilderness and bring us to a safe campground where we can enjoy everything he has made.

THINGS THAT BOTHER US
1. Maybe we've done something wrong and need to do something about it.

2. Maybe we haven't finished our grieving for a loss. Maybe our healing process was interrupted because several bad things happened close together, because we were kept too busy to deal with our pain, or because we were using tranquilizers or other substances to make it hurt less.

3. Maybe we need to forgive somebody. According to the Bible, Jesus said that if we refuse to forgive others, God won't forgive us. Forgiving doesn't mean pretending that something bad never happened. Only God can make something go away completely forever - that's what he does with our sins when we ask him to forgive us. When we forgive, it's like writing off a bad debt. That sets us free from fretting about what somebody else should be doing. We let go of any idea of getting even, of wanting someone else to pay for what she did, or of trying to get someone else to admit that she was wrong. We leave that part for God to deal with and get on with our own healing. Later, when we start to feel better, we can pray for the person who hurt us.

Sometimes we can't walk away from something, even though we have forgiven it. For instance, if my child breaks a window, I can forgive him, but if I don't make sure that he does what he can to fix it or pay for a new one, I am teaching him that it is okay to break windows and someone else will take care of the mess. I have to act in his best interest.. It is easier to do that when I have forgiven him. I will not put him down or withdraw my love, but I will hold him accountable for doing what is right. That's what God does with us.

When we start to clean up our emotional life, we usually discover a pile of old resentments, of all shapes and sizes, that we need to take to the dump. Sometimes people hurt us on purpose; sometimes it was the result of thoughtlessness; sometimes it happened because of a disagreement. We are often disappointed
