So you've spent about 10 hours importing your entire CD collection into iTunes, and downloading any other awesome music you missed, you have a new iPod, but what do you do next? How the heck do you get all the music onto your new media player?
Surprisingly Apple has made it very user friendly, so you will have no problems adding your music, and taking it with you wherever you happen to go. I'll talk about the different ways you can add music to your new iPod from iTunes, the pros and cons, so you can figure out the best way for yourself.
There are two ways to add music to your iPod, by syncing, or by manually adding the songs.
Syncing
When you first connect iPod to your computer, you'll be asked if you want to sync you files to it, or if you want to add them manually. Syncing is iTunes term for automatically adding songs to your iPod each time you connect it to your computer. This is by far the easiest and fastest way to get your songs onto iPod, but it does have its downside.
The main pro and con of the iPod is that it adds ALL of your music to it each time your connect, meaning that it will add the songs you like, don't like, and everything in between. If you are very picky about the music you want to listen to, syncing may not be the best option for you. It is also not a good option if your iTunes library has music from other people on it. My iTunes library for example has my mother's and brother's music on it, and some of it I don't really like, so syncing won't work in this situation.
Manually Add your Songs
The next option, and my personal preference is manually adding your songs to your iPod. This option will take longer, but you will have much more control of what gets put onto your iPod than you ever would with syncing.
To manually add songs to your iPod, all you need to do is connect your iPod, then drag the songs you want on the iPod, onto the iPod's icon in iTunes. Pretty easy to do, and you have total control.
Now you should be well informed on your options for adding your music to your iPod. Once you know which one works for you, you'll be listening to all your favorite music in no time.
