Music reviews: Punk rock

Little do the youth today know, but punk rock is older than they are. In the article, I want to argumentively discuss the first real punk bands. The first real punk bands, we're the Cure, U2, the Sex Pistols, the Police, the Ramones, the Pretenders, Dead Kennedys, Joy Division (New Order), the Misfits, and Ministry, just to name a few. These bands have laid a foundation as solid as disco that cannot be touched by the young bands of today. We are talking an average of over 20 albums a piece, not including thousands of remix albums. Punk was open to all kinds of listeners, and held it place in society as these artists, changed and grew. It takes 70,000 fans to hold show a night for these bands, and they have not released albums in years. The arrival of the original punk rock bands, to any local venue is a sellout crowd. They have recorded enough music so that they can collect royalties on the term punk rock. Punk and alternative have become a confused sound in today's music. This is not saying that punk today, is not good, it is just stating that many listeners are confused by the sound of the two. In 1978, the Great United Kingdom, saw a great rise in punk rock music. Groups like the Cure, the Mighty, Mighty Lemonheads, Echo and the Bunnymen, and The Sex Pistols, started the original sound. Groups like to police started a sound called SKA that has journeyed into modern day, and has some of the most loyal fans. Gwen Stefani is at the top of the lists for artist that rocked the 1980's. Gwen has been around longer than I had known, but she is one of the sexiest women on the earth, a true punk goddess. In all of my confessions, I must say that bands like Concrete Blonde, U2, and the Sex Pistols, are the foundation of punk music. Bands like the White Stripes, Green Day, and Sum 41, would not have jobs if it were'nt for these oldies but goodies. A sound that solid, and basic was the foundation for some of the best music in the world. Just as inspire as gospel and jazz, punk rock is the only other true original sound that exists. To create a sound like the 1960's and 1970's is not going to sell these days, but when punk came out, it started a movement that keeps the music industry going.
