within minutes. If she had had to call us all it would of taken a lot longer.
Also, a friend of mine is in a band. Whenever he has a show coming up, he writes one text and sends it to everyone in his phonebook who he wants to be there. What could take hours in phone calls is done in seconds.
I used to be really bad at keeping in touch with people. As I have already mentioned my hatred of the telephone, I've lost touch with some dear people over the years. Now if I just want to check in with my friend at the other end of the country I just have to send a text, ok this isn't good all of the time, but if I just want her to know I'm still thinking of her, then I can let her know without having to pick up the phone and dialling.
I understand some peoples annoyances at text messages, I have them too. I hate it when you can be sitting round a table in a bar, or a caf and everyone has their phones out. If you're sitting with people, talk to them. If something is that important that you have to interrupt a real life conversation to send a text then pick up a phone and call that person, if its not that important, then wait. Write full sentences, or at least full words, we're all, or at least most of us, educated people, stop trying to disprove this by writing like an uneducated, English not as your first language, 8 year old.
Overall I love to text, its my lifeline, it's the quickest way to tell someone you love them, let them know your thinking of them, or just to make someone laugh, and what could be wrong with that?
